International Proficiency Certificate

This passport-style document is required for any US citizen chartering in EU waters. Available only to US Sailing members who have successfully completed the US Sailing Bareboat Cruising certification course at an accredited school. This certificate can also be purchased by powerboaters who are US Powerboating certified through Inshore Powerboat cruising. For those qualified in both sailing and powerboating, you can obtain a dual Sail/Power IPC.

You must complete both steps of the process to obtain an IPC:

1. Fill out the IPC Application: International Proficiency Certificate Application.

2. Complete your purchase (this page): International Proficiency Certificate - US Sailing Store.

If you are renewing an expired IPC, you must still complete both steps above.

If these requirements are not followed, purchases will be voided after 60 days and not refunded. Please monitor your email used for purchase if there are any follow up questions for your application.

1. Please place your order for the IPC, selecting the option "Expedited Domestic Shipping Fee". This adds a $50.00 to your order to cover the expediting shipping and processing.
2. Please add a note on your order or reach out directly via email to merchandise@ussailing.org to confirm the date you need to receive your IPC.
3. This fee is in addition to standard shipping at checkout. You do not need to select expedited shipping at check out when completing your order.
